DEATH OF W. R. L. COBB, JR. W.R.L. Cobb, Jr., age 66, well-known and prominent farmer of the Courtland community, died at his home Monday after a lingering illness of several months. Mr. Cobb was the husband of Mrs. Lillian Westbrook Cobb of Courtland, and the son of the late W.R.L. Cobb and Anna Ricks Cobb, of Southampton County. He was a member of the Courtland Methodist Church where he served until he became ill. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, W.R.L. Cobb, III, of Newsoms; Edwin W. Cobb of Courtland and Capt. Martin R. Cobb, U.S.A., now serving overseas; two grandchildren, W.R.L. Cobb, 4th, and Catherine Westbrook Cobb. Funeral services were held at the grave Tuesday afternoon, April 24, at 4 p.m., conducted by his pastor, Rev. Percy D. White, of Courtland. Pallbearers were L.M. Cobb, W.T. Cobb, Jr., O.M. Joyner, George B. Vick, W.J. Manry, W.E. Edwards, H.L. Westbrook, E.P. Westbrook and S.P. Johnson, Jr. The casket pall was of white carnations and red rose buds.
