(Doc) Cabell, 61, of Boykins, was held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Boykins Baptist Church by the Rev. Ben B. Ussery. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, had charge of arrangements. A native of Newsoms, he was the husband of Mrs. Ellen Hopkins Cabell. A retired police officer and justice of the peace of Southampton County, he was a disabled Navy veteran. He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church, National Police Association and Knights of Pythias. Besides his widow, survivors include a son, the Rev. Stanley P. Cabell of Fayettesville, N.C. ****************************************************************************** BENJAMIN WILLIAM SHERMAN (DOC) CABELL BOYKINS - A funeral service for Benjamin William (Doc) Cabell, 61, who died Saturday at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Richmond, was conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Boykins Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben. B. Ussery, a former pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. Pallbearers were J.B. Barksdale, Jr., J.C. Bunn, Jr., E. Beale Carter Jr., R.T. Lassiter Jr., Jerry Rice and Ricky Boyette. A native of Newsoms, Cabell was the husband of Mrs. Ellen H. Cabell and a son of the late Powhatan Algernon and Mrs. Daisy Pope Caell. He was a former police officer of the town of Branchville and Boykins and was a justice of the peace. Cabell was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy. He also was a member of the Boykins Baptist Church, the National Police Association, Knights of Pythias and the Meherrin Coin Club. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Ellen H. Cabell of Fayetteville, N.C.; one grandson, Jeffery Douglas Cabell, also of Fayetteville, N.C.; three brothers, George C. Cabell of Chesapeake, Newitt E. Cabell of Winterhaven, Fla., and R. Baird Cabell of Franklin; one sister, Mrs. Mary C. Bridges of Franklin; and a stepmother, Mrs. Gertrude M. Cabell, also of Franklin. McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins, was in charge of arrangements.
