FALL PROVES FATAL TO 5 YEAR OLD NEWSOMS BOY; DIES WEDNESDAY Benjamin W.S. Cabell, Jr., Sustains Fatal Injuries At Home Monday Little five-year old Benjamin W.S. Cabell, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. B.W.S. Cabell of Newsoms, was fatally injured Monday afternoon when he fell from a chair on which he was standing in an effort to reach some cakes on a top pantry shelf in the Cabell home. After he fell the child got up and went out into garden where his parents were working and stayed with them for two or three hours. That night he complained of his back and a physician was called. The following day his condition did not improve and he was carried to Raiford Hospital here for X-ray examination. No fracture was revealed but the child succumbed to internal injuries Wednesday afternoon at about 1:30 o’clock. Besides his parents the child is survived by a brother, Stanley P. Cabell, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Cabell, of Franklin. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. F.L. Baker. Interment was made in Newsoms Cemetery, the pallbearers being Arnold Baker, Beale Carter, Jr., Bill King, and George Thomas Drake. The fatal accident this week was the second such tragedy to strike the Cabell home in less than a year. In June, 1941, Betty Thomas Cabell, 18 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.W.S. Cabell, was killed by a Seaboard Air Line passenger train, having wandered from her home nearby on the tracks directly in the path of the train. "Billie" B.W.S.
