All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EDGAR RAYE CHAPPELL EDGAR CHAPPELL DIES OF INJURIES IN AUTO ACCIDENT Edgar Raye Chappell*, 34 year-old Franklin resident, died early Tuesday morning in Raiford Memorial Hospital as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident which occurred March 27 on Highway 189. Mr. Chappell was the son of Josiah Chappell of Belvedere, N.C., and Mrs. Minnie Copeland Jamerson of Suffolk. An employee of Camp Manufacturing Company, he had served in the U.S.M.C. during World War II. Besides his mother and father, Mr. Chapelle leaves his wife, Mrs. Bernie Chappelle, one daughter, Miss Brenda Chappelle, and one son, J.R. Chappelle, all of Franklin; one brother, Fentress Chapelle, of Newport News; two sisters, Mrs. Bula Maie Oliver of Suffolk, and Mrs. Betty Lois Uzelle, of Jersey City, N.J., and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. in the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Harvey L. Carnes, pastor of the Franklin Congragational Christian Church, and the Rev. R.E. Brittle of Suffolk officiated. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hertford Bryant, Sam Eubanks, Joyner [sic], C.L. Winstead, W.B. Durette [sic; Durrette] and J.B.
