CABELL Our community was shocked last Sunday by the death of Mrs. Mary Daisy Cabell. Not quite a week before her death, she was taken to Norfolk to the Protestant Hospital for treatment, and her many friends had no idea her condition was critical, hoping to see her return soon with her health much improved, but Sunday morning the sad news came over the wire that she had passed away. Mrs. Cabell was a member of the Baptist church; and before her health failed had been a regular attendant and a teacher in the Sunday school. She was of a bright sunny disposition, and readily made friends. She is survived by her husband, P.A. Cabell; four children, Virginia, George, Sheridan and Newit, her mother, Mrs. B.T. Pope, one sister, Mrs. Richard Howard, and one brother, H.P. Pope, all of Newsoms. Her body was laid to rest in the local cemetery Monday afternoon. Burial services were conducted at the home by her pastor, Rev. L.F. Paulette assisted by Rev. W.R. Evans. The active pallbearers were J.B. Everett, P.S. Worrell, Jno. B. Darden, R.B. Story, J.H Channing, R.A. Bunn, W.L. Darden, W.J. Story; honorary J.T. Story, J.F. Porter, Levi Vick, A. Drake, T.G. Whitley, W.S. McGraw. The many beautiful floral tributes evidenced the esteem in which she was held in the community. Mary Daisy (POPE; Mrs. Powhatan A.) CABELL, b.
