Mr. Copeland, an Isle of Wight County native, was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. He was a retired employee of Union Camp and a member of the Masons and the Holly Camp, 18 Woodmen of the World. Survivors include his wife, Nina W. Copeland; three sons, James C. Copeland Jr. of Franklin, Dr. Henry L. Copeland, Sr. of Brookneal, J. Winston Copeland of Haymarket; a sister, Berta Duke of Carrsville; a brother Jasper Copeland of Newport News; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Saturday in Franklin Congregational Christian Church by the Rev. Richard Dickman. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Holland - Rideout Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
