LIZZIE PEARCE COVINGTON

   Mrs. Lizzie Pearce Covington, 62, a resident of the Capron community, died 
suddenly Monday night at Raiford Memorial Hospital in Franklin from a heart 
attack.

   She was the daughter of the late Edward and Susan Bennett Pearce of 
Bennettesville, S.C. a member of the Drewryville Methodist Church, she 
belonged to the Woman's Society of Christian Service.

   She is survived by her husband, Lewis E. Covington of Capron; six sons, 
R.E. of Hemingway, S.C., James E. of Drewryville, Harold E. of Franklin, 
John Lewis of Portsmouth, Alex L. of Courtland, and Gordon V. of Emporia; 
two daughters, Mrs. J.W. Carwile of Hopewell and Mrs. R.W. Updike of Emporia; 
three brothers, O.B. Pearce of Cheraw, S.C., and John F. and G.V. Pearce of 
Bennettsville, S.C.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

   The remains were taken to the Holland Funeral Home in Franklin.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Covington of the Capron community, who died 
Monday, were conducted in the chapel of the Holland Funeral Home on Wednesday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock.  Officiating was Rev. David S. Willis, Jr., pastor of 
the Drewryville Methodist Church.

   Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.  Pallbearers were Robert D. 
Claud, James Gaskins, Alton L. Brizzard, Clifton Overby, Wallace Spain and 
Edward M. Trice.
