COOKE Charles C. Cooke died at his home in Branchville January 21st after an illness of a few days with pneumonia. He was in his seventy-fourth year. He came to Virginia from the north about thirty-eight years ago, and engaged in the lumber business until compelled by the infirmities of age to retire from active work. He numbered many friends and enjoyed a wide circle of acquaintances. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. S.A. Cooke of Branchville; six sons, A.L. Cooke and W.A. Cooke of Richmond, S.C. Cooke of Kenbridge, H.D. Cooke of Branchville, J.R. Cooke of Boykins and C.W. Cooke of Newsoms; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Lewter of Richmond and Miss Susie Cooke of Branchville; and one brother, A.B. Cooke of Halifax County. He was laid to rest in the family burying ground of Mr. J.J.Johnson, near Branchville, the active pallbearers being his six sons. Charles C.
