GEORGE T. COOKE JR.

   Newsoms - Funeral services for George T. Cooke, Jr., 73, were held Monday in 
Newsoms cemetery by the Revs. Kenneth Williams and Arthur Green.

   Cooke died Saturday in a Norfolk hospital.

   A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Clio M. Cooke.

   He was a retired postmaster in Newsoms and was a member of the Newsoms 
Baptist Church.

   Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Holloman and Mrs. Louise 
Bradshaw of Newsoms and Mrs. Blount Cobb of Warsaw; two brothers, W.T. Cooke of 
Portsmouth, and Raymond Cooke of Denver, Col.

His father also worked for the postal service.
