COX Mrs. Pauline C. Cox, 68, well-known resident of Franklin and wife of Tamplin Jones Cox, died at Raiford Memorial Hospital early Saturday morning, July 14, after suffering a heart attack Friday night. Mrs. Cox, a native of Southampton County, was the daughter of the late James Jordan and Martha Scott Councill of the county. She was a member of Bethel Friends Meeting near Franklin. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Betsy Cox Billings of Port Huron, Mich., a grandson, Thomas Bradford Billings; a sister, Mrs. Rochelle J. Rountree and two brothers, J.Paul Councill and Robert J. Councill all of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the graveside in Poplar Spring Cemetery by Rev. James A. Coney, pastor of the Bethel Meetinghouse. Pallbearers were Winslow Councill, Paul Councill, Jr., Jordan Rountree, Charlie Hardison, Jr., John McKimmey, Thomas McKimmey, Lawrence Councill and James Drake.
