Mr. Cooke was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and the Newsoms area. He was a son of the late William and Mrs. Roxianna Gray Cooke. He is survived by 5 sisters; Mrs. Mattie Porter, of Courtland; Mrs. Lizzie Baggett of Suffolk; Mrs. Ruth Britt of Como, N.C.; Mrs. Lillie Worrell and Mrs. Ada Holloman, both of Newsoms, and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service was conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins; with the Rev. Lawrence W. George pastor of the Newsoms Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Newsoms Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cecil Porter, George T. Cooke, Jr., J.R. Holloman, Jr., Earl Worrell, DeWitt Wright, William Britt.
