He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Coggsdale of Southampton County and a member of Newsoms Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons, G.J. of Whaleyville and W.E., H.B. and A.B., all of Norfolk; seven daughters, Mrs. Clyde Porter and Mrs. Virginia Allen of Portsmouth, Mrs. Ernest Bryant of Boykins, Mrs. C.L. Bradshaw of South Norfolk, Mrs. Mildred Vick and Mrs. Linwood H. Newton of Franklin and Mrs. R.P. Delmonte of Buffalo, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Dolly Whitley of Portsmouth. A funeral service was held at Newsoms Baptist Church Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. E. Mallary Binns, pastor, assisted by the Rev. H.W. Landis, pastor of Newsoms Methodist Church, and the Rev. L.F. Smith of Moyock. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.O. Worrell, Thomas Coggsdale, George Hill, R.H. Ferguson, William Ferguson, Julian Carter, James Coggsdale and Fred Worrell.
