ALBERT WOOD COATES BAPTIST PASTOR DIES IN HOSPITAL The Rev. Albert Wood Coates, 62, pastor of Sedley and Black Creek Baptist Churches, Southampton County, died early Sunday at a Richmond hospital. A native of Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Robert Alexander and Rebecca Smith Coates. He was a retired Army chaplain, having served at Ft. Belvoir and Ft. Eustis. For 16 months, he was stationed in India. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillian Matthews Coates, of Franklin; two sons, James R. Coates, of Washington, and Albert W. Coates, Jr., of Newport News; two brothers, John A. Coates of Acorn, Westmoreland County, and J.J. Coates of Warsaw; two sisters, Mrs. W.B. Palmer, of Denton, Md., and Mrs. Mary C. Settle, of Richmond, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral rites will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday at W.J.M. Holland & Son Funeral Home, Franklin, with bural in Poplar Spring Cemetery [sic*] here. Rev.
