Cutchins, died at the home in Norfolk of her daughter, Mrs. Mark Pope, at 6:20 o’clock Wednesday morning, May 28, after an illness of two months. A native of Southampton County, Mrs. Cutchins had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 13 years. She was the daughter of the late Counsel and Mrs. Lottie Ann Babb Story, and was a member of the Newsoms Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. A.R. Whitley and Mrs. Mary Pope of Norfolk and Mrs. F.W. Bailey of Suffolk; three sons, E.L. Cutchins of Boykins, W.M. Cutchins of Franklin, and James A. Cutchins of Norfolk; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Thomas Story and William Story of Newsoms. Funeral services for Mrs. Cutchins were held at the Purviance Funeral Home on Boykins on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with her pastor, Rev. R.L. Chadwick of Newsoms, officiating, assisted by Rev. M.W. Anderson. Berda Futrell sang "I Am Satisfied with Jesus," and Mrs. H.M. Purviance sang "Beyond the Sunset." At the grave in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, the choir sang "Face to Face." The casket was covered with a pall of lilies and red roses. Active pallbeaerers were C.B. Bailey, Eldridge and William Cutchins, Benjamin Rountree, Donald Rountree, Guy Pope Rountree, Valon Rountree and Raymond Whitley. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.
