Cutchins, 59, of the Newsoms community, died in a Richmond hospital on Saturday morning, April 12, after an illness of several months. He was a son of the late James Thomas and Mrs. Catherine Story Cutchins, and husband of the late Mrs. Nonie Fowler Cutchins of Southampton County. He was a member of Newsoms Methodist Church. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Edward Hill of Hampton, Mrs. George Baugham and Mrs. Willie Pope of Newsoms, and Mrs. Oscar Gray, Mrs. Edward Johnson and Mrs. James Denson, all of Franklin; two sons, L.C. Cutchins, Jr., and Raymond C. Cutchins, both of Franklin; 20 grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas Councill Cutchins, R.C. Cutchins and L.B. Cutchins, all of Newsoms; and two sisters, Mrs. W.R. Fowler of Franklin and Mrs. Alice Coggleston of Norfolk. Last rites were conducted at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon in the W.J.M. Holland & Sons chapel by Rev. R.B. Moore, pastor of the Newsoms Methodist Church. Burial was in the Newsoms Cemetery. The pallbearers were J.C. Bunn, E. Beale Carter, J.L. Cogsdale, D.B. Rountree, Guy P. Rountree and J.Q. Worrell.
