Roland A. Cutchins, 25, of Franklin was killed by small arms fire Sunday while on a combat operation in Viet Nam according to the telegram his wife received from Maj. Gen. Kenneth G. Wickham. Cutchins, who was still recovering from a grenade would in his right shoulder suffered in a skirmish March 13, was felled on his first day of combat following release from the base hospital. The Franklin soldier is survived by his widow the former Patricia Lowe, a daughter Patricia Renee, a son Roland Ashley Jr. and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fadie Cutchins of Franklin. Others surviving are brothers Richard, Rochelle and Raymond of Franklin and Leroy, U.S. Army, German and 4 sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hornok of Courtland, Mrs. Violet Parrish of Holland and Mrs. Daisy Vann and Mrs. Mary Lee Whitehead of Franklin. Funeral arrangements are pending. Sgt.
