Mrs. Cotton, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, was the widow of Vernard Preston Cotton. She was a graduate of Farmville State Teachers College and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Caroline F. Brock of Carrsville; two sons, Preston D. Cotton and T. Redelle Cotton, both of Franklin; a brother, Theon A. Darden of Suffolk; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. in Sycamore Baptist Church by the Rev. M. Reginald Warren. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
