All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ FRANCES GARDNER COTTON Mrs. Fannie Gardner Cotton, 61, a lifetime resident of Franklin, died about 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, May 20, in the Medical College Hospital, Richmond, after a brief illness. She was a daughter of the late George A. and Mrs. Mary Cotton Gardner of Franklin. A member of the Franklin Baptist Church, she had taught in the primary department of the Sunday school for 35 years, was a member of the Woman’s Missionary Society, and participated in other activities of the church. Surviving are her husband, Dellie C. Cotton, Sr., and a son, Dellie C. Cotton, Jr., both of Franklin; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Percy Cobb of Franklin; and two brothers, Chesley W. Gardner of Murfreesboro, N.C., and George A. Gardner, Jr., of Norfolk. Final rites were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the Franklin Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, a former pastor. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being R.H. Allen, Harold S. Atkinson, Lloyd A. Darden, Frank Day, Jr., Maxie R. Day, William H. Jennings, J.B. Johnson and Leland P. Simmons. Francis "Fannie" S. (GARDNER; Mrs. "Dellie" C.
