He was the husband of Mrs. Annie Laurie Darden Cotton, and the son of the late George and Mattie Vaughan Cotton of Southampton County. A member of the Sycamore Baptist Church, and a member of the Fork of the River Ruritan Club, he was employed by William Howell as clerk in the mercantile business. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Preston D. Cotton, and T. Redelle Cotton, both of Franklin; one daughter, Mrs. Caroline Ferguson, also of Franklin, five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Susie C. Archie, and one brother Munroy Cotton, both of Portsmouth. The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in Franklin, where funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel, by the Rev. Thomas F. Mabe, pastor of the Sycamore Baptist Church, and Rev. L.M. Knight, former pastor, of Blossox, Virginia. Burial will be held in Franklin Cemetery.
