She was a native of South Hampton County, widow of William Whitehead Cuthrell, daughter of Claude Godwin and Mrs. Marrietta Owens Parker, was a Baptist and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by two sons, Harvey R. Cooley of Virginia Beach and Navy Capt. Charlie B. Swayne of Portsmouth and a sister, Mrs. Livingston H. Babb of Ivor; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held today at 4 p.m. in the Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, the W.J.M. Ira D. Hudgins. The widow of William Whitehead Cuthrell, she was the daughter of Claude Godwin and Mrs. Marrietta Owen Parker. A native of Southampton County, she had lived here for five years. She was a member of Daughters of American Revolution and a Baptist. Surviving are two sons, Harvey R. Cooley of Virginia Beach, and Retired Navy Capt. Charlie B. Swaine of Portsmouth; a sister, Mrs. Livingston H. Babb of Ivor; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Franklin has charge.
