All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROBERT WALLACE COLE Robert Wallace Cole, 50, a life-long resident and farmer of the Courtland community, died in his sleep on Saturday morning, November 14, at his home near Courtland. He had been in failing health for several years. The deceased was the husband of Mrs. Hildred Whitehead Cole of Courtland, and son of the late William Judkin and Irene Crichton Cole of Southampton county. He was a member of Vincent Grove Methodist Church and of Courtland Lodge No. 85, A.F. & A.M. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Robert Wallace Cole, Jr. and William Walter Cole, both of Courtland; a sister Mrs. John Lee Joyner of Courtland; a nephew, Jasper Lee Joyner of Jarratt; a niece, Mrs. T.C. Sykes of Norfolk; and his stepmother, Mrs. Margaret Everett Cole of Emporia. Funeral services for Mr. Cole were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. J.T.Cassell, of Capron, pastor of the deceased, and Rev. C.A. McCormick, pastor of the Courtland Methodist Church. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Active pallbearers were Claude Applewhite, Lloyd Allen Applewhite, Carroll Barnes, Eley Cole, David Crichton, William Harwell, Roland Vaughan and Emmett Whitehead.
