The burial service was read by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of the Franklin Baptist Church. His widow and several children survive. The pallbearers were: B.L. Edwards, Sheriff T.B. Bell, Jim Blythe, J.D. Kitchen, George Kitchen, P.E. Knight and J. Smith. Sterling S. D.Cert. 29534 (Jerusalem #53) gives d. 21 Jun 1928, buried 21 Jun 1928, Sebrell; however, on the reverse is a note by undertaker W.J.M. HOLLAND, Jr., stating, "No Doctor - Man was dead two or three days - when we got the job." It gives his father as Belford COLEY; the informant was his widow. Other records give son of Belfield & Mary A.E. (IVEY) COLEY, who m. 2 Mar 1856, in Halifax Co., NC. His widow Mamie (LASSITER) COLEY (1884 - 1958) is buried in Ahoskie Cemetery, Ahoskie, Hertford Co., NC. They m. 1 Jul 1911 in Gates Co., NC. Their son Luther (1915 - 1961) is also buried in Ahoskie Cemetery. his first M.Cert. 1940-13518 (Suffolk #88) gives his father as Luther Sterling. His birthplace comes from the B.Cert. of their daughter Rena. (1913-20388 {Jerusalem #76}) The Ancestry.com transcript was annotated by Patricia Harp, from "S." to "Sterling Luther." His family appears in the 1870 Census in Etrusia, Halifax Co., NC. He 1m. Eunicey. He 2m. Victoria (BRASWELL) HILL, 14 Dec 1890 in Edgecombe Co., NC.
