All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM JUDKINS COLE William Judkins Cole, a life-long resident of Southampton County, died in his home near Courtland on Saturday June 17, after a long illness. He was born October 6, 1874, the son of the late William Wallace and Fannie Applewhite Cole. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret E. Cole, one daughter, Mrs. J.L. Joyner, one son, R. Wallace Cole, all of Courtland. He is also survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a member of the Vincent Grove Methodist Church. Funeral services were conducted at his late home on Sunday, June 18, at 4 o’clock by the Rev. L.D. Stables and the Rev. Percy D. White. Active pallbearers were: R.E. Whitehead, A.E. Applewhite, B.R. Applewhite, F.N. Barker, W.G. Allen, Thomas Vaughan, William Harwell, and David Crichton. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Interment was made in the family cemetery. William Judkins COLE, lifelong resident of Southampton Co., b. 6 Oct 1874, d. 17 Jun 1944, at home, near Courtland, interred in the COLE family cemetery*, "Indian Woods," near Worrell's Fork, 18 Jun 1944, donated obit, newspaper unknown *His father & step-mother are buried there also.
