CLOSE Mrs. Gertrude Waterston Close, 82, resident of Courtland and Richmond, died Sunday night, March 31, in Patrick Henry Hospital. She was the daughter of the late James G. and Emily Brandeberry Waterston of Williams County, Ohio. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Theo Hause of Montpelier, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Miss Cary Close of Washington D.C. Robert G. Close of Hampton, John W. and George J. Close of Courtland, Kenneth D. Close of Franklin, David B. Close, U.S. Air Force, now stationed in Iceland, and Misses Elizabeth and Mary Leigh Close of Courtland; two great-grandchildren, John David and Alyce E. Close, both of Pittston, Pa. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the graveside in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, by Rev. Richard H.L. Vanaman, pastor of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Franklin. Active pallbearers were George Lane, Winder Lane, Dr. E.F. Reese, 3rd, John Rollison, L.A. Applewhite and Thomas Vaughan.
