All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ANTOINETTE FOX CLAUD Franklin, Sept. 7 - (Special) - The funeral of Mrs. Antoinette Fox Claud, 21, who died at Memorial Hospital, Danville, Saturday morning at 11:25 o’clock was held from the residence of her grandmother, Mrs. J.E. Gilliam, in Franklin, on Sunday afternoon. She is survived by her husband, George E. Claud; an infant daughter and one sister, Mrs. [sic; Miss] June Fox, of Franklin. Mrs. Claude was the daughter of the late Wallace Fox and Mrs. Annie Laurie Gilliam Fox, of Southampton County. The Rev. George H. Spooner, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.S. Cobb, Jr., J. Linwood Edwards, Marion and Franklin Whitfield, Hubert Butts, of Dunn, N.C., and Gilliam Rudd, of Norfolk. ****************************************************************************** ANTOINETTE FOX CLAUD Mrs. Antoinette Fox Claud, 21, wife of Geo. E. Claud and granddaughter of Mrs. Nettie Gilliam of this town, died at Memorial Hospital, Danville, Saturday, September 5, following a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted from the Gilliam residence in Second Avenue Sunday afternoon at 4:30 by the Rev. Geo. H. Spooner, pastor of High Street Methodist Church. During the services Miss Cora Vaughan and Mrs. N.C. Barbour sang "In the Garden" accompanied by J. Edgar Weede. There was a large attendance of friends and many floral offerings. Interment took place in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were: J.S. Cobb, Jr., J. Linwood Edwards, Marion and Franklin Whitfield, Hubert Butts of Dunn, N.C., and Gilliam Rudd of Norfolk. Mrs. Claud is survived by an infant daughter, Mary Anne; her husband, Geo. E. Claud; one sister, Miss June Fox; her grandmother, Mrs. Nettie Gilliam and her step-mother, Mrs. J.W. Fox of Dunn, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Wallace Fox and Mrs. Annie Laurie Gilliam Fox of Southampton County. Those who knew Antoinette best will always remember her as a real homemaker and a true, unselfish and lovable character. The sincere sympathy of the entire community goes out to her grief-stricken family in their bereavement. Antoinette (FOX; Mrs. George E.)
