Dalton Ward, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, Colonial Heights and the Rev. Daniel Spell, pastor of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Daniel Claud, Joseph J. Claud, T.A. Saunders III, John Berkley, Claud Westbrook and Joe Claud. Mrs. Claud, 86, died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.C. Westbrook, 628 Hamilton Ave., Colonial Heights, after an illness of several years. A native of Southampton County she was the widow of Thomas Payne Claud of Drewryville and the daughter of the late William Jasper and Mrs. Martha Boney Brown of Wilmington, N.C. A member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, Drewryville, she was a senior member of the extension department of Immanuel Baptist Church of Colonial Heights. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Westbrook of Colonial Heights and Mrs. T.A. Saunders of Norfolk; one foster daughter, Mrs. Reginald Burgess of Petersburg; two foster sons, Cedric P. Claud of Winterpock and Leslie V. Claud of Courtland; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Rena Bell (BROWN; Mrs. Thomas P.)
