All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ THOMAS PAYNE CLAUD Thomas Payne Claud, 79, well-known and prosperous farmer of Drewryville community, died at his home early this morning (Thursday) after suffering ill health for the past few years. Mr. Claud, a life long resident of Southampton County, was the son of the late Joseph J. and Mary Lucy Person Claud of this county, and husband of Mrs. Rena Brown Claud of Drewryville Methodist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Westbrook of Colonial Heights and Mrs. T.A. Saunders of Norfolk; one foster daughter, Mrs. Reginald Burgess of Drewryville; two foster sons, Leslie V. Claud of Courtland and Cederic P. Claud of Winterpock, Chesterfield County; one brother, C.C. Claud of Marion, S.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Boykins of Emporia and Mrs. Hugh White of Holland; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the residence on Saturday afternoon 2:30 o'clock by Rev. David Willis and Rev. W.W. Stennett. Interment will be made in Drewryville Cemetery.
