Claud were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at the home in Drewryville. Rev. A.W. Coates, pastor of the local church, assisted by Rev. Cecil Morris, of whose church Mrs. Claud was a faithful member, conducted the rites. There was a large attendance and many beautiful floral tributes, the casket being covered with a pall of pink rosebuds and white asters. During the services the choir sang "Sweet Peace, the Gift of God's Love" and "How Firm a Foundation." Active pallbearers were Willie Claud, Quincy Murfee, Charlie Cobb, John Claud, Bob Claud and E.C. Smith, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. A native of Southampton County, Mrs. Claud was born in 1868 in the Hebron community. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Mrs. Ada Person. In 1891 she was married to Robert W. Claud, by whom she is survived with three daughters, Mrs. Emma Mae Simmons and Miss Robbie Claud of Drewryville and Mrs. E.K. Price of Lambertville, N.J.; the following sisters, Mrs. W.S. DeLoatche and Miss Emma Person of Branchville, Mrs. J.F. Moore of Kenova, W. Va., and three grandchildren, Wallace Rob and Maurice Simmons of Drewryville and Anne Price of Lambertville, N.J. Mrs. Claud was a devoted mother and a woman of rare Christian character and integrity. Simplicity and sincerity were the chief attributes which governed her life and her passing will be mourned by all who were privileged to know her. Ximena (PERSON; Mrs. Robert W.)
