Clayton Zuni - Mrs. Anna Horne Clayton, 76, died at her home here Sunday morning after a long illness. A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of John R. and Josephine Johnson Horne. She was the widow of Joseph M. Clayton and a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Zuni. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. W. Russell Johnson, Mrs. Harry M. Griffin of Windsor, and Miss Frances Louise Clayton of Zuni; four sons, Irving A. Clayton of Dawson, Ga., Joseph M. Clayton, Jr. and Richard A. Clayton, both of Zuni and John R. Clayton of Smithfield; a sister, Mrs. Mattie H. Clayton of Zuni and eight grandchildren. The body was taken to Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 pm in Tucker Swamp Church Cemetery near Zuni by Rev. Jeff Monroe pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. J.W. Horne Jr., pastor of Tucker Swamp Methodist Church [sic*]. ****************************************************************************** ANNA HORNE CLAYTON ZUNI - Mrs. Anna Horne Clayton, 76, died at her home here Sunday morning, July 6, after a long illness. A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late John Robert and Josephine Johnson Horne and the widow of Joseph M. Clayton. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Zuni. Surviving three daughters, Mrs. W. Russell Johnson and Mrs. Harry M. Griffin, both of Windsor, and Miss Frances --- Clayton of Zuni; four sons, Irving A. Clayton of Dawson, Ga., John R. Clayton of Smithfield, and Joseph M. Clayton, Jr., and Richard A. Clayton, both of Zuni; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Horne Clayton of Zuni. Last rites were held at the graveside in Tucker Swamp Cemetery, near Zuni, on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Officiating were Rev. Jeff Monroe, pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church, and Rev. J.W. Horne, Jr., pastor of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. Surviving as pallbearers were W.C. Andrews, Dr. E.M. Babb, Ocie Bradshaw, Grover Harrison, Dick Johnson, Howard Johnson, Paul Joyner and Dr. Earl Strickland. Anna M. (Rt. 644) & Tomlin Hill Dr. (Rt. 649), east of Zuni.
