EDNA EARLE POWELL COLEMAN

   BOYKINS - Mrs. Edna Earle Powell Coleman, 67, died Thursday at 6:15 a.m. in 
a Suffolk hospital after a short illness.

   She was a native of Southampton County and the daughter of William A. and 
Mrs. Pat Powell.  She was a member of Boykins Baptist Church.

   She is survived by her husband, H. Gordon Coleman of Boykins; one daughter, 
Mrs. Frank W. Gearing of Harrisonburg; one son, Malcolm P. Coleman of Boykins, 
and five grandchildren.

   A funeral service was conducted at Boykins Baptist Church Saturday at 4 
p.m. by the Rev. Ben B. Ussery, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Frank Handley of 
Blackstone and the Rev. N.B. Habel of Victoria.  Burial was in Beechwood 
Cemetery, Boykins.

   Pallbearers were Mat Drewry, W. Hugh Powell, Jr., Jack Powell, Merrill 
Powell, Roy Lassiter, Ryland Fowler, Ray Bunn, David Sykes and Dr. Dalby 
Gayle.
