JAMES WILLIAM CLARK

   J.W. Clark, 68, lifelong resident of Ivor, died at Lakeview Hospital, 
Suffolk, Thursday, October 12. He was a member of Ivor Methodist Church.

   Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Holloway Clark; three sons, J.E. and 
H.B. Clark, of Ivor, and Sam Clark, USA, overseas; four daughters, Mrs. L.H. 
Pittman and Mrs. B.A. Bailey, of Ivor; Mrs. W.A. Caroon of Portsmouth, and 
Mrs. W.L. Gwaltney, of Waverly; two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Barrent of Waverly, 
and Mrs. J.N. Branch of Wakefield; one brother, R.T. Clark of Petersburg, 
and 13 grandchildren.

   Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 13, at 3:30 p.m. at the 
home by the Rev. W.G. Bates, Jr., assisted by the Rev. Murdock Butler.  Active 
pallbearers were: A.R. Gardner, Roscoe Luter, D.H. Pulley, J.S. Bradshaw, W.C. 
Rawls, and W.P. Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.

   Burial was in the Ivor cemetery.
