Councill, in Burdette. He was the son of the late Junius W., and Mrs. Mary Camp Davis. He was a member of the Black Creek Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school for many years. Mr. Camp is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Councill and Mrs. S.E. Bradshaw of Boykins; a nephew, J. Winston Camp of Ivor, and a niece, Mrs. J.H. Gardner, of Holland. Services were conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the church by his pastor, the Rev. W.B. Watson, assisted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin Baptist Church. Burial took place in the family plot near Black Creek. ****************************************************************************** JOHN JULIAN CAMP John J. Camp, age 68, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. E.A. Councill of Burdette, on Wednesday, October 23, after a short illness. He was a native of Southampton County, son of the late Junius W. and Mary Davis Camp. He was well-known farmer and lived his entire life in the Black Creek community. In early life he united with Black Creek Baptist Church, to which he was always loyal. Serving as superintendent, teacher, treasurer and at the time of his death president of the Mens Bible class and a deacon, he always had the interest of the church at heart. Mr. Camp will be greatly missed by all, but especially by the sick and shut- ins whom he found great pleasure in visiting. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. S.C. Bradshaw of Boykins and Mrs. E.A. Councill of Burdette; a nephews, J. Winston Camp of Ivor, and a niece, Mrs. J.H. Gardner of Holland; a great-niece, Bettie Sue Gardner, and one great- nephew, Winston Camp, Jr., beside a host of cousins and friends. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at Black Creek Baptist Church by his pastor, the Rev. W.B. Watson, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin and the Rev. F.B. Handley of Boykins. The pastor used as his subject "The White Robed Company," taken from Revelations 7:15. Burial was in the family cemetery at his home near Black Creek. Pallbearers were E.A. Drewry, C.C. Edwards, J.L. Doughtie, F.B. Welch, N.S. Beaton, Lee Bradshaw, J.E. Hatfield and L.A. Lowe. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Men’s Bible class. The esteem in which he was held by his friends was shown by the many beautiful floral designs.
