All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY CLAY CAMP A funeral service for Mrs. Mary Clay Camp, 74, wife of James Camp Jr., former chairman of the board and current board member of Union Camp Corp., who died Friday night in her home after an illness of several months, was conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Pallbearers were William M. Camp Jr., L. Clay Camp, Sol W. Rawls Jr., Robert Camp Ray, John E. Ray IV, John M. Camp Jr., Toy D. Savage and Paul Douglas Camp III. A native of Selma, Ala., she attended Westhampton College in Richmond where she was on the alumnae board. She was the daughter of the late Jefferson Leon Clay, of Selma, Ala. and of Mrs. Edith West Clay, who after years of illness died in Selma just six hours before Mrs. Camp’s death in Franklin. She was a member and a Sunday school teacher of Franklin Baptist Church and was active in the Daughters of the American Daughters of the American Revolution, The Franklin Music Club and the Franklin Women’s Club. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Dr. James L. Camp III of Charlottesville; a brother, Jefferson Leon Clay of Selma, a sister, Mrs. William M. Camp of Franklin, and two grandsons, James L. Camp IV and Christopher P. Camp of Charlottesville.
