RUTH CAMPBELL, LAND DONOR, DIES FRANKLIN - Mrs. Ruth Camp Campbell, widow of Henry M. Campbell and a donor of the land for the Paul D. Camp Community College here, died Tuesday. Named First Citizen of Franklin in 1970, Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Patrick Henry Hospital board, the Franklin Charity Board and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a daughter of the late Paul Douglas Camp, who founded Camp Manufacturing Co., a forerunner of Union-Camp Corp. Mrs. Campbell was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and taught Sunday school for many years. With her sister, Mrs. Billie Camp Younts, Mrs. Campbell gave the land on which the Paul D. Camp Community college is built. Mrs. Campbell also gave a gymnasium to Southampton Academy. She is survived by a brother, Dr. Paul D. Camp of Richmond, and three sisters, Mrs. Robert Marks of Boykins, Mrs. Charles R. Younts of Atlanta, and Mrs. Webster Walker of Southport, Conn. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Franklin Baptist Church, with burial in Poplar Spring Cemetery, here. ****************************************************************************** RUTH CUTCHINS CAMP CAMPBELL Mrs. Ruth Camp Campbell, of Franklin, died January 6, 1976. She was the widow of Henry M. Campbell, daughter of the late Paul Douglas and Ella Cobb Camp, a member of the Franklin Baptist Church, the Women’s Missionary Society, and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was Franklin’s first citizen in 1970, on the City of Franklin’s Charity Board, a board member of the Patrick Henry Hospital, and a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy. Being very philanthropic she gave the land for Paul D. Camp Community College and a gymnasium for Southampton Academy. Being very humble, hospitable and charitable, her home was always open. Survived by one brother, Dr. Paul D. Camp of Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Marks of Boykins, Mrs. Charles Younts of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Webster Walker of Southport, Conn.
