Councill, a well-known and esteemed resident of Burdette died at his home Friday, August 18, 1933. He was the son of the late Joe and Mrs. Virginia Vaughan Councill and was born April 7, 1878. He united with Black Creek Church in young manhood where he served as a deacon for several years and was a faithful and consistent member. On July 14, 1909, he married Miss Lizzie Camp who survives him also three sisters, Mrs. J.E. Hatfield of Burdette, Mrs. Levy Holland of Windsor and Mrs. J.G. Johnson of Zuni. Funeral services were conducted from Black Creek Church Saturday afternoon at 3:00 in the presence of a large assembly of friends by his Pastor, Rev. R.E. Vellines, assisted by Rev. F.B. Handley of Boykins and interment was made in the Camp family cemetery. Active pallbearers were: W.C. Andrews, Otis Beale, Edgar Drewry, Leland Beale, C.C. Edwards, J.T. Pond, C.G. Johnson, and Dwight Holland. Friends of the family acted as honorary pallbearers.
