Councill, of Southampton County, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Bethel Friends Church by the Rev. A.E. Cloud and the Rev. Jesse Stanfield. Active pallbearers will be Joseph Hare, Philip Raiford, M.C. Blythe, J.H. Scott, C.L. Councill and W.W. Winslow. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** JAMES JORDAN COUNCILL James Jordan Councill, well-known farmer of the community, died Monday night in the home of his son, Joseph T. Councill, after an illness of several months. Mr. Councill was the son of the late James and Mrs. Louisa Councill of this county; was 83 years of age and a consistent member of Bethel Friends Church. He is survived by three sons, Joseph T., Robert J. and J. Paul Councill; three daughters, Mrs. Viola Drake, Mrs. R.J. Rountree and Mrs. T.J. Cox, all of Franklin; 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a large family connection. Funeral services were held from Bethel Church Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock by his Pastor, the Rev. Jesse Stanfield, assisted by Dr. Elwood W. Jones of the Franklin Christian Church. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery here, the pallbearers being: C.L. Councill, J.H. Scott, Exum N. White, Herbert G. Councill, Samuel Bradshaw, Mitchell Blythe, T. Philip Raiford and Jos. L. Hare.
