Husband of Mrs. Nellie Rodman Councill, he was the son of George T. Edward Councill and Mrs. Geneva Seth Snipes Councill of Isle of Wight County. He was a lifelong resident of Franklin and for the past several years was a State Route mail carrier. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by a foster son, Robert Eubank of Holland; 4 brothers, Harvey L., Jesse Elmer and George Kenney Councill, all of Holland, and William Amasa Councill of Franklin; one sister, Mrs. Neppi C. Coffman of Holland; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Holland Funeral Chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Walter Clark, Ronald Jenkins and William Whitley, all of Murfreesboro, N.C., G.C. Duck, Clyde H. Eley, Mills Daughtrey, Hudson Lankford and Alonzo Joyner.
