Council [sic; Councill] Died In Franklin Today Mrs. W.E. Council, of Franklin, age 74 years, died this afternoon at 2:15 o'clock, at a local hospital. She is survived by six children, Mrs. H.T. Sheffield, Mrs. A.D. Sheffield, of Suffolk, Mrs. D.F. Norris, of Norfolk, R.C. Council, H.G. Council, of Franklin, and Tommie Council, of Handsom. Funeral arrangements will be made later. ****************************************************************************** ROSA BELL COBB COUNCILL Mrs. Rosa B. Councill of Franklin died at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, Saturday afternoon, July 12, in the 74th year of her age. She was the widow of the late W.E. Councill, who died in June 1929, and is survived by six children: three sons, H.G. and R.C. Councill of Franklin and Thomas Councill of Handsom; three daughters, Mrs. D.F. Morris of Norfolk and Mrs. H.T. Sheffield and Mrs. A.D. Sheffield of Suffolk; by 18 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Alamanda Gardner and Mrs. J.R. Rountree of Franklin, and a large family connection. Mrs. Councill, who was Miss Rosa Cobb of the Courtland community before her marriage to W.E. Councill, also of this county, was an exemplary Christian character of retiring disposition and an ideal home-maker, interested always in the well-being of husband and children. She was a consistent member of the Union Christian Church of this community, and during the ten weeks of her last illness bore her sufferings with admirable fortitude, patience and Christian resignation. Funeral services were held from her late residence in West Franklin Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock conducted by Dr. C.H. Rowland of Greensboro, N.C., former pastor of the Franklin Christian Church, assisted by Rev. R.E. Brittle, pastor of the Union Church, Rev. Dr. W.W. Staley of Suffolk and Dr. Geo. H. Spooner of High Street M.E. Church. Interment took place in Poplar Spring Cemetery here, the body bearers being: H.T. Sheffield, A.D. Sheffield, and Robert Sheffield of Suffolk, J.C. Councill of Hampton, and Joe Byrum Gay, W.T. Pace, J.W. Beale and R.L. Gardner.
