Rev. Roscoe Jones, pastor of High Street M.E. Church, officiated. The active pallbearers were: L.R. Jones, A.B. Burch, E.G. Evans, W.B. Simpson, R.A. Peters, Bailey Maddrey, Roy Edwards and J. Edgar Weede. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lula Brantley Conwell; a daughter, Mrs. Harris Northrop of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Hudson Conwell, of Franklin and G.W. Conwell, Jr., of the C.C. Camp at Vesuvius, five sisters and one brother. Mr. Conwell, who was a native of Northampton County, N.C., came to Franklin about 23 years ago to become section foreman for the Southern Railway. He was a man of genial and kindly character and had a large number of friends here.
