Sidney Cowles and the Rev. Edwin Thornton Jr. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Edwin Joyner, Edward Hatfield III, John A. Munford, Grant Brock, Charies Bulls, Cecil Edwards, Wilbur Drewry and Johnnie Saunders. She was a native of Southampton County, the widow of Arthur Clifton Carr, and a daughter of Robert Lee and Mrs. Nancy Rebecca Corbitt. She was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church and its W.M.S. She is survived by three sons, Arthur C. Carr Jr. of Franklin, Hugh E. Carr and Miles Lee Carr of Zuni; two sisters, Mrs. Edgar A. Drewry of Zuni and Mrs. A.E. Bridger of Norfolk; and three brothers, Rev. Rufus Corbitt of Belcrosse, N.C., Charles Corbitt of Franklin and James Corbitt of Newport News; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
