A lifelong resident and farmer of Southampton County, he was a son of George Robert and Mrs. Margaret Lewis Carr. He was a member of Corinth Friends Meeting. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mattie Joyner Carr; three sons, George Ryland Carr, Clifton Merrell Carr, and Herbert Baker Carr., and a daughter, Mrs. Will H. Stieh, all of Ivor; a brother, B.R. Carr of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie C. Carr of Ivor and Mrs. Mamie C. Hubbard of Portsmouth; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. James A. Coney and the Rev. Berkley A. Garnett. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery.
