Carr of Waverly was born in Southampton County December 15, 1896, and died November 17, 1922. He united with the Waverly Baptist Church at an early age and had consistently followed the teachings of his Savior and was active in the affairs of his church until his death. He was widely loved for his kind and generous disposition and genial traits of character as was attested by the great concourse of friends that followed him to his last resting place in the Waverly cemetery where interment was made. The burial services were conducted by Rev. W.W. Edwards and Rev. O.L. Gilliam and the pallbearers were: Earl Harrison, Hinton Harris, Oscar Brittle, Hugh Carpenter, Gordon Chappelle and Westley Westbrook, all friends and companions of the deceased. He is survived by his mother and father; by two brothers, F.L. Carr and F.I. Carr of Waverly, and one sister, Mrs. C.E. Grubb of Wilmington, Del.
