All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOHN NATHAN CARR John Nathan Carr, aged 53 years, a former resident of Franklin and a former member of the local police force died suddenly at his home in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., on Tuesday afternoon, April 27. Mr. Carr was the son of the late Nathaniel L. and Bessie Lewis Carr of Franklin, and husband of Mrs. Eleanor Magnus Carr of Roanoke Rapids, who survives him. A veteran of World War I, in which he rose to the rank of Lieutenant while serving overseas, he was a member of the Roanoke Rapids Baptist Church. Surviving him are his wife and two children, Mrs. Louise Carr Umphlette of Roanoke Rapids and John Lewis Carr of Plymouth, N.C.; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. R.C. Branch of Franklin; and one brother, E. Roy Carr of Roanoke, Va. Funeral services for Mr. Carr were held yesterday at two o’clock in the Baptist Church at Roanoke Rapids, Rev. Gordon L. Price officiating. The body was brought to Franklin for interment in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
