Carr, well-known resident of Franklin died at his home here Sunday morning. Mr. Carr was 63 years old and had been a deacon in the Franklin Baptist Church for several years and a member of the Bruner Bible Class of that institution. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Knights of Pythias and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Carr; a daughter, Mrs. R.C. Branch of Franklin; two sons, E. Roy Carr of Roanoke and John M. Carr of Newport News; five brothers, G.R. Carr of Portsmouth, W.G. Carr of Zuni, J.H. Carr of Newport News, R.B. Carr of Suffolk and B.H. Carr of South Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. R.L. Corbitt of Zuni, besides a number of step-children and grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Franklin Baptist Church Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson and Mr. Carr’s nephews, Rev. W.H. Corbitt, pastor of the Holland Baptist Church and Rev. Rufus Corbitt, a student at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. J.M. Carr and Mrs. H.G. Cobb sang as a duet, "Nobody Loves You Like Jesus." Active pallbearers were J. Linwood Edwards, Joe Bynum Gay, P.R. Camp, R.J. Tucker, B.L. Holt, John M. Camp, E.F. Gray and J.A. Johnson. Members of the Bruner Class acted as honorary pallbearers. Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the floral tributes being many and beautiful. CORBITT), Richard Blanton, and Bunyon H. CARR. Lemuel appears in the 1900 Census in Chuckatuck District (e.d. 22, sheet 18B), Nansemond Co.
