All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROBERT LEE CORBITT After an illness of three weeks Robert Lee Corbitt, aged 80 years, a prosperous farmer of the Black Creek community, died at his home last Friday morning, November 21. Mr. Corbitt was the son of the late William Henry and Emily Raiford Corbitt of Southampton County, and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Besides his wife, Mrs. Nancy Rebecca Carr Corbitt, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. E.A. Drewry and Mrs. A.C. Carr of Zuni and Mrs. A.E. Bridger of Newport News; six sons, Robert B. Corbitt of Orlando, Fla., Rev. William Henry Corbitt of Newport News, Rev. Rufus H. Corbitt of Burgess Story, Northumberland County, Charles H. Corbitt of Franklin, J.W. Corbitt of Newport News, and G.E. Corbitt of Zuni; and twenty-seven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Corbitt were conducted at 2:30 o’clock on Sunday afternoon at the Black Creek Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. W.B. Watson, assisted by Rev. Randolph L. Gregory of Franklin. Interment was in the family cemetery near the Corbitt home, the pallbearers being O.L. Joyner, Jim Joyner, Hugh Carr, Miles Carr, Arthur Carr, Jr., and Marvin Corbitt.
