Cross, Jr., on Fourth Avenue, after an illness of many months. Mrs. Cross was the daughter of the late James Parker and Carolyn Beale Saunders of Nansemond County, and was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Besides her son, William Joseph Cross, Jr., the deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Isaquella Helveston of Biloxi, Miss.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Ralph Gadberry of Franklin; one sister, Mrs. C.J. Cutchin of Franklin; two brothers, H.P. Saunders and J.P. Saunders, both of the Franklin community; and several nieces and nephews. The body was taken from the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Friday afternoon at three o’clock for graveside services in Poplar Spring Cemetery, with Revs. R.D. Stephenson and Robert M. Kimball officiating.
