Franklin Man Buried on Cyprus 

  FRANKLIN - Funeral services for Savvas Christie of Franklin, who died Monday 
while visiting his parents in the town of his birth, Prastion Marphou [sic*], 
Cyprus, an island in the Mediteranean, were conducted there Tuesday. 

  He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Joanne, Nicky, and Sophie 
Christie, all of Franklin. 

  Christie and his family came to the United States from Cyprus in 1949.  He 
worked as a storekeeper in the Franklin Confectionery. 

  Christie was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Norfolk.

The "Report on the Death of an American Citizen," issued by 27 Jun 1959, 
   by Vice-Consul Willard A. DePREE, gives d. in Nicosia, Cyprus; effects 
   in possession of sister Sophia CHRISTOU, of Prastion, Marphou, Cyprus. 

His widow Marie Nicola/Nicoldou (JACOVIDES) CHRISTIE (1915 - 2000) 
   is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. 

Her obit ("Virginian-Pilot," Mar. 7, 2000) is posted with Find a Grave Mem. 
   #59146890. 

Their infant Harry S. CHRISTIE (1953-1954) is buried in Poplar Spring 
   Cemetery, Franklin - Sect. 1, Plot 62B.
