All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CHARLES WILLIAM CARTER FRANKLIN - Charles William Carter, 47, the husband of Mrs. Ruth Francis Carter, died Friday on the way to Southampton Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of the Franklin community, he was a son of Mrs. Lina Dunlow Carter and the late Richard Carter. He worked for W.H. Scott, Inc., and was a member of Hunterdale Christian Church. Besides his widow and mother, surviving are a daughter, Deborah Jean Carter of Franklin; four sisters, Mrs. Elton Gwaltney of Smithfield, Mrs. James Surace of Franklin, Mrs. James Pope of Courtland, and Mrs. Lina C. Brillo of West Covina, Calif.; and three brothers, Richard E. Carter of Franklin, John Carter of Atlanta, and Raymond Carter of the Navy. A funeral service was conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church and the Rev. R.E. Brittle of Suffolk. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family was at the home of Richard Carter. Pallbearers were: E.M. Burgess, Robert Hollowell, J.T. Stuart, V.R. Scott, E.M. Scott, Thornton Billups, William Edwards, Leslie Whitehead, Beverly Scott and Edward Spivey. [Charles William CARTER, life-long resident of Franklin, Army veteran of WW-II, employee of W.H.
