DONA ESTELLE CARTER 

   Mrs. Dona Estelle Carter, 71, wife of John David Carter of 707 Walnut St., 
died at her home Wednesday night, November 2, after an illness of many months.

   Mrs. Carter, a native of North Carolina*, had made her home in Franklin for 
the past 18 years.  She was the daughter of the late William and Martha 
Whitley Britt of Hertford County, North Carolina, and a member of High Street 
Methodist Church, Franklin.

   Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. H.J. Gibson, 
of Franklin, and one half-sister, Mrs. E.J. Railey, of Como, N.C.

   The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, where 
services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. by Rev. James W. Turner, pastor of 
High Street Methodist Church.  Interment will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
