All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM RICHARD CARTER Funeral services for William Richard Carter, 48, resident of the Franklin community, were held December 21, at 3 o’clock at Nottoway Chapel Church by the Rev. A.W. Roten. The church choir sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "The Old Rugged Cross." The casket was covered with a spray of mixed fern and carnations. Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lina Dundalow Carter; four daughters, Grace, Lina Sue, Helen and Mabel Carter; four sons, Charles, Elmer, John and Ramon Carter, all of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Crowder of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Mrs. S.H. Johnson of Newsoms. Active pallbearers were: William, Earl, Douglas and James Dundalow, Thomas Bryant and Wesley Umphlette. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
